Can we take a minute here to appreciate Eugene’s development with the Stabbington Brothers? He goes from completely sassing these guys, to being terrified of them, to wanting to completely kick their asses. Why? All because of Rapunzel. In the scene after the lanterns, the look of fear in his eyes is for Rapunzel, not for himself. He is worried about her. When he regains consciousness a couple scenes later the first thing that comes out of his mouth is her name. He’s screaming her name because he’s terrified for her life. He fears they have done something to her. And that’s when the RAGE comes in. In the prison scene he has HAD it. He finally found someone he loves and who loves and accepts him for all that he is and these two have just taken that person away from him. Those guys are like TWICE his size at least. He yanks him and slams him against the bars like it’s nothing. He really didn’t start fighting the guards even until he finds out Rapunzel is in trouble. Because he finally has something to FIGHT FOR. I just love his character so much because he is truly one of the most dynamic characters Disney’s ever created. And the most expressive too! His facial expressions tell you so much.
